Summary
The boy felt his throat go dry as he realized what was happening. He locked eyes with Six, pleading for his life with a look of terror. He didn’t know why this was happening, but he knew that whether he could trust her or not, his life was in Six’s hands. A muted yelp escaped him as his hand slipped slightly, and he hurriedly tightened his grip on her, his panicked breathing speeding as he begged for mercy for whatever unknown sin he had committed to warrant this response from Six.
As she studied the boy beneath her, the cold expression on Six’s face softened ever so slightly. She saw the fear within him, fear that was all too real, too human. It wasn’t the fear of a monster meeting its end, but rather a child holding onto any hope of survival. She hesitated, thinking for a brief moment. She still wasn’t sure whether to fully trust Mono, but she knew that whoever or whatever he was, he wasn’t a monster.
Not yet, at least.

Quackity waded in deeper, the cool water against his skin feeling like a fond, overdue embrace as long-restrained avian sounds bubbled up out of his chest. With each call, quack, and trill he felt freer, his inhibitions quickly fading into the background as he allowed himself the bliss he’d deprived himself of. Once he was deep enough, he dove beneath the soft waves, feeling the currents of the river against himself before resurfacing with a content trill. He fluttered his wings, shaking the water droplets off wildly. He dove under again, and again, and again, splashing, flapping his wing, quacking and trilling freely. He’d get tired and simply float on the surface for a few minutes, before doing it all again, bobbing under the water and playing freely. Quackity continued this behavior for hours, blissfully lost in the fuzziness of his instincts, entirely carefree with this part of himself for the first time in what felt like years.
Unbeknownst to him, the musician he had grown fond of was standing on the path, watching him from afar.

Quackity restrains his avian instincts, embarrassed to let his partner see this side of him. But when Wilson leaves, he takes his chance to indulge in his waterfowl instincts.

Adam finds out he has been an alternate this whole time, that he isn’t the ‘real’ Adam Murray, who was stolen away as a small child and replaced by him. However, instead of falling and losing himself, Adam runs back to Jonah and the car.
Things shift from there as Adam tries to come to terms with this new information and the resulting changes this has on him while Jonah tries to figure out what happened in that basement to make the other begin to act so strangely
