Caroline Forbes has spent her entire life pretending she's normal.
Born a siphoner, she can't generate magic of her own and must siphon it from magical sources. But that's not what scares her the most. Cuts disappear before they can scar. Broken bones heal impossibly fast. Even injuries that should kill her somehow don't. No witch can explain why a human heals like a vampire.
As ancient secrets begin to surface and impossible truths refuse to stay buried, Caroline realizes her abilities aren't a coincidence. They've been a part of a story that began over a thousand years ago.
Some secrets don't stay buried. And some were never meant to be uncovered.

Summary
Heroes take the bullets meant for others. Spider-Man was made from no different cloth than Captain America or Iron Man always willing to protect others. It was part of the job and when he heard the bang Peter Parker threw himself with superhuman speed. The bullet was suppose to strike him and he was fine with that.
Sometimes heroes fail.
Jean Grey is shot.

Summary
"There are rules to being a superhero," Natasha tells Peter.
Most of the rules are common sense. Stay off the fan sites. Don't fall in love with civilians. Don't burn bridges just to toast marshmallows over the flames. And, most importantly, don't go to war with the media.
It's a pity that common sense isn't one of Peter's virtues.
OR: Peter goes to war with the media, because he's never been good at following rules.
