“We’re very serious about Balls, Miya-san.” Atsumu’s smile cracks fully this time, and he lets out a bark of laughter. Kiyoomi can’t help but smile under his mask, his fingertips tingling. He feels impossibly light, but maybe that’s just the adrenaline talking.
Maybe not.
“I think everyone in this room can agree with ya on that, none more so than me.”
Atsumu is about to leave the country, possibly forever, and Sakusa is just about ready to admit that this is the worst thing that could ever happen.

Summary
‘This is awful weird Omi.’ Atsumu says. Kiyoomi levels him with an unimpressed glare from over the rim of his teacup.
‘I thought this is what people did at Christmas? Visited friends, ate food, made merry.’
‘Ya’ve never made merry in yer life though,’ Astumu says, and Kiyoomi tuts. ‘I don’t think ya’d even know where ta start.’
‘Well I’m starting here, aren’t I?’ Kiyoomi huffs into his mug.
‘Did ya get me a gift? Ya know, so I could make merry with ya?’ Atsumu wiggles his eyebrows and Kiyoomi rolls his eyes.
‘Grow up.’
‘Ya know what I think Omi?’ Atsumu shuffles forward on the sofa, levelling himself with the other man. ‘I think ya’ve shown up here because yer upset. Something’s wrong, I can practically taste it on ya, and ya’ve come here, unannounced on Christmas Eve, because ya think I can make ya feel better about whatever it is that’s bothering ya.’
Sakusa Kiyoomi is having a very bad Christmas Eve, made worse by the fact that he knows exactly what he needs to do to make himself feel better. He decidedly doesn't like the idea very much. A story set over the course of a year, from one Christmas Eve to the next.

He considers the invitation. The image of Atsumu's chest pressed up against his back, the man reaching around to hold his bigger hand over Kiyoomi's to guide him in cutting vegetables. And getting their bowls ready to go sit on the couch while they watch shitty reality TV, with Atsumu's huge thigh pushing up against his as he laughs into his ear and feeds him a bite from his bowl every once in a while.
He might be more than just physically attracted to Miya Atsumu.

Kiyoomi rejects his parents' credit card for the first time since he was born in an effort to prove he does not need their money to sustain himself. When his efforts are in vain and he wonders if he'll even make rent, a certain setter who knows a thing or two about eating on a budget comes the rescue.
