Summary
Beneath the window, the sky stretched out in a soft ash-grey, as if someone had drawn a sheer curtain across the world. There was no rain, no sunlight, not even the distant call of a bird or the faintest stir of wind. The silence was so complete that even the gentle touch of pencil to paper echoed clearly through the small room.
Rin sat upright on the cushioned chair. The long desk before him was cluttered with scattered sheets of paper and pens lying askew. His left hand held the edge of a page, while his right guided a pencil with quiet care. The first line emerged—light, tentative, as though he were feeling his way through the contours of himself. He didn’t cross it out. Didn’t hesitate. It was a kind of uncertainty he had long since grown accustomed to.
And so, he began to write. Under the soft glow of the yellow lamp, his sea-glass eyes flickered with something almost like light.Or: Rin wrote letters, not because he waited for replies, but because there were things he had always wanted to say: unspoken thanks, unfinished apologies, an unnamed affection—sent to friends, teammates, family, and those he had loved or still loved, each in their own distinct way.

Rin snorted. He was applying sunscreen to the planes of his body, which had taken the color of a dangerous red.
“What?” Ryusei eyed him from where he lay lazily, basking in the sunlight. The droplets covering his tan skin shimmered like golden dust on a dune. “Don’t you enjoy living, RinRin?”
