Summary
Harry wakes with a start. His mind is flooded with pictures, dark and cruel and gruesome. His subconsciousness shies away from them immediately, and he focuses on his body.
His head hurts like a bitch, his muscles scream at him, his throat is parched. He tries to sit up and is pleasantly surprised when nothing hurts bad enough to render him helpless. Yes, he hurts, but he’s also able to turn and grab a delicate, crystal goblet from the nearby nightstand.
Half an hour passes. Pressure is building in Harry’s head, evolving from a soft strain to debilitating pain, thwarting his futile attempts to avoid thinking.
He remembers everything.
