When you finally quit your job, it was with an edge of despair. You had no other source of income, after all, and no one to rely on but yourself.
It was fine, though. It had to be. There was a whole summer ahead of you to get yourself together, and though some part of it was dreading it, another was almost excited. No ties meant no one to tell you what to do. No one to tell you who to be.
You were alone, and you told yourself you’d be fine with it.
Only when you got home, after hanging your keys on the hook and sighing, did you realize there was a complete stranger lying unconscious on your couch.

Summary

His life as a marginal teenager was quite calm, until his eighteenth birthday. After getting into a scuffle with a gangster over money, Giorno accidentally kills him. A few days later, another member of the gang finds him and imposes an insurmountable debt for the life unintentionally taken. There's no choice—now he will have to dive headfirst into the world of crime.
