Dan looked down at Zach who was still staring at him in awe and he couldn’t help but believe Phil’s claim. He cocked an eyebrow. “I’m pretty sure everything I read was outside of his reading level.”
“Didn’t matter to him,” Phil shrugged. “His favorite is Moby Dick.”
Dan laughed. “Well, you’ve also met your biggest fan. Rose hardly ever stops talking about you.” Rose let out a sharp little yelp and hid her face in Dan’s hip.
Phil smiled gently at her and knelt to talk to her. “It was very nice to meet you, Rose.”

“You slept through a car crash,” Prompto whispers accusingly, because he’s used to losing sleep to Gladio’s thunder-snores at this point, but Noctis is usually unbothered by them. Noctis, in retaliation, kicks softly at the ankle tucked between his own, ducking down to bury his face in Prompto’s hair as he does so.
“I was already asleep for the crash,” Noctis argues, his tone edging dangerously toward the end of incredulous where it might be heard over Gladio. “I can’t- I can’t fall asleep when he’s already this fucking loud.”
Ignis is going to wake up for sure if Noctis keeps making Prompto laugh like this.

And he does. Say it anyway, that is. “But who’s around to tell us that we don’t have as much time as we want?” It doesn’t feel like a curse when it comes out of his mouth. There’s no slime left behind on his teeth, or dirt caught against his gums, or anything like that. So—so, maybe it’s not as bad an omen as it could be. Maybe this time, they really do have all the time in the world.
Noctis laughs against his palm. Prompto feels it there like scattered sand.
