“... My uncle used to raise me… Ma’am…” Hunter mumbed. Used to… He was dead now. He was gone. Erased. Hunter should feel happy! So why did he want to cry?
His dad would have to be a male. Males hurt. Uncle was a male. So that had to be the case for everyone, right?
“Used to…?” Camila asked, her expression turning grave. “Oh… did he… uh…”
Hunter just wanted the pain to stop.
“Die?” Hunter asked, chuckling darkly. “Yeah. He did. But I don’t miss him anyways.” Camila tensed, her expression managing to turn even more worried.

Summary
One night, Eda finds a dying man in the middle of a forest. She doesn't know who he is, but she isn't the type of person who would leave someone to die like that, so she takes him home. Meanwhile, Darius and Lilith will mourn the supposed death of a best friend for one and a lover for the other.
Or... an alternative universe where the former Golden Guard doesn't die, but survives Belos' murder attempt and is taken in by Eda.

Summary
Hunter had calmly awaited Ms. Noceda’s instruction. It made sense that she hadn’t made any demands the first few days, it was clear that they were all in shock and needed time to process before any of them could be trusted to successfully carry out any task, no matter how simple. But this was day five, and though none of them were doing particularly well, they were coming back around. The thousand-yard stares and silence that had cloaked them those first awful nights had fallen away into something less shell-shocked. And yet, Ms. Noceda had not told any of them what they were supposed to be doing.
Because they had to have been expected to be doing something. Hunter was not naive. Ms. Noceda’s assurance that they were all welcome in her home was a kind gesture, but kindness was not given without being earned.
