The stranger walked towards Grace but when he noticed him backing away, he stopped. Instead, he leaned against the bunk he had just been laying. Crossing his arms, but smiling all the same.
“My name’s Simon Fischer. What’s yours?”
“Grace. R- Ryland Grace.”
Simon blinked as if that was too simple and smiled.
“That’s a nice name,” he said and gestured to the robot. “This is Armando. He’s a bit of a Nanny Robot. Looks after my health. Yours too.”
“Did you name it?” Grace asked, eyeing the machine.
“…yes?” Simon replied.
“You named the robot arm, Arm-ando?
“Yes.”
Grace considered this. “Fair enough. Carry on.”

After locating the source of the transmissions, the Eridians somehow managed to haul the clunky metal box onto Erid using an adapted version of their space elevators. Accompanying the crack on the side of the container were large, bold letters that spelled “SM-8”.
Or: Lead Scientist Dr. Ryland of the Consolidation has a few skeletons in his closet, and Specialist Simon of the Hail Mary has not seen a human in a long, long time.
