in the end, it's not about johnny, not really. it's about all those wandering eyes, the hungry twitches of noses and tails, the fact that people look at johnny like the fact that they ever had the privilege of seeing him naked means anything at all.
most of all, it's about the slavering fucking beast inside of him, the one who preens when he's got johnny covered in bite marks and bruises and is most content when he can press his thumbs into the ones that johnny gave him as payback.

Summary
Soap had been rather adamant that it was just a stupid crush, just his hindbrain crossing wires. Nothing more to it than getting a predator who could devour him confused with a potential partner to eat him out until he cried. Hunger and lust looked awfully similar in the flat eyes and alert ears of a predator, and with Ghost hiding most of his face, they were all he had.
At night, when he’s alone in bed and three fingers deep, he admits to himself that he wants it to be hunger. He wants that ferocity, wants Ghost to tear him apart piece by piece until he’s nothing but a whimpering little bunny, well and truly trapped by the feral jaws of a wolf.
or: Ghost reminds Soap what it feels like to be prey.
