his heart is racing in his chest. he’s not even really sure what he wants to say, just wants— to slow this down, somehow, to savor the way jungkook’s looking at him a bit longer. it’s fire, of course it is, but there’s something so gentle in it, too. jungkook pauses, cocks his head to the side. an ambulance screeches by in the distance.

he pulls up to the curb in front of jimin’s apartment, lets the engine idle. glances over and looks at him. he can’t really help himself.
jimin is already looking back. it’s soft, the look, something that echoes the i-miss-you in jungkook’s chest right now. a knife, a sharp tip against his skin. it hurts. they are so close and so far away.
“goodnight,” jungkook says.
jimin’s eyes flash, in the dim streetlights. it’s dark, half his face is dipped in shadow. the sharp line of his jaw softened. he’s still pretty. jungkook swallows hard.
“goodnight,” jimin echoes, softer.
