Summary
“Of all the imbeciles that attained immortality,” Enki gripes. “Of course it had to be you.”
Cahara leans back in his chair, watching Enki pace back and forth across the room. He’s been at it for a good ten minutes, at least. “Sorry?” he offers.
Enki whips around, pointing a long crooked finger in his direction. “Don’t,” he warns. “Don’t speak.”
Cahara flashes him a winning smile. “I thought the entire point of this meeting was for me to speak.”
“That was before I knew it was you,” he stresses.
————
Cahara brings the girl to the dark altar. She becomes the God of Fear and Hunger. She brings Cahara to the tenth level.
He doesn’t die immediately.

Summary
“Okay,” Hunter says, raising his hands to her own and starting to pry her fingers off his shoulders. “Okay. I know I said I wouldn’t tell Belos anything, but–”
“Are you insane?” Luz shakes his hands off and tightens her grip. “He’ll kill me.”
Hunter balks. “He’d never hurt you. He’s your father.”
“My dad died from cancer when I was seven years old,” she corrects sharply, her voice unintentionally dropping an octave. She sees Hunter freeze. “Belos tried killing me and my mentor a few weeks ago. He might love his daughter, but I’m not her.”
-000-
Luz wakes up in a world where Belos is her dad. The plan: find a way back home.

Summary
Callie has been part of the Squidbeak Splatoon for a long time. She knows how things go – claim turf, beat the baddies, and blast them to oblivion. Every agent that has joined after her got the memo pretty quickly, and this new Agent Three won’t be any different.
When Three refuses to kill Mr. Grizz during the final battle, forcibly takes control of Octavio’s ship, and sucks the ooze out of the bear until he’s (relatively) harmless, Callie might have to admit that she doesn’t know Three super well.

Summary
“You are but a fledgling god, but a god nonetheless,” Bill explains, fishing a necklace from under his shirt. “Favored by the Titan and powerful enough to best the Huntsman – you have proven yourself the higher being, you see. It is our duty to make sure your will is seen and that you are protected!”
The pendant at the end of the necklace is a light glyph. Her light glyph.
Luz is speechless.
-000-
Luz deals with the unintended consequences of being very publicly announced as god's favorite.

Summary
Chase leans towards the baby and squints at her like she's a criminal sitting across an interrogation table. Robert knows he named his daughter right when she matches his expression one-for-one. “At least tell me you didn't follow the stupid family tradition. We're running out of nicknames for Robert that ain’t Bob.”
A weight lifts off of Robert's chest. Some unseen, fractured pattern comes to completion, and the joy of it is pure and simple. “Chase,” he says, not knowing whether to sob or laugh, “she's named after you.”
It didn't quite dawn on him yet, clearly. Chase snorts and scratches Beef's ears. “Yeah, right. First name Track, last name Star?”
Robert hoists the baby up to the full twenty-eight inches of limb and menace. “Chase, meet Chase.”

Summary
The suit zips up over the hole in Robert’s chest. Taking a deep breath, he slots the astral pulse into place.
Instantly, his vision lights up with an overwhelming array of statistics, telling him the number of heat signatures in the area, tallying every bruise on his body, calculating the chance of this mission’s success. The motion to dismiss it all may as well be reflex by now.
He slots into the cockpit like he was made to fit, and shivers involuntarily as the wires in the seat slither into their designated ports. The suit comes to life at his touch.
-OR-
Robert Robertson III is no longer entirely human. It feels like a stain on his grandfather’s legacy, to be a Mecha Man with superpowers, but it’s not like he had a choice.
Sonar never really was human. It’s fine. Who cares if people look at him funny? Being a supervillain PAYS. The joke’s on them, really. He doesn’t care. Seriously.
It turns out the two of them have a lot in common.
