Summary
Between a persistent fear of the sea and no memories from before two years ago, Law feels out of place on the island he calls home. He has his friends and his position as trainee of the doctor, but he can't shake the feeling he's forgotten something important. Then Law finds a voiceless, injured mer on the beach. Though merfolk are supposed to be dangerous, Cora is more likely to get tangled in fishing net than to hurt anybody.
There's a whole world of magic under the waves that Law wants to learn about-- but Cora is far from the most dangerous creature in the sea.

“Oh,” Law says, eventually. “Are you offering to let me drink your blood?”
Fucking finally! Geez, that took a century and a half. Sabo barely holds himself back from rolling his eyes.
“It seems that I am,” Sabo says, voice smooth but with an undeniable edge – he can’t help being impatient in the face of all that.
“Well, alright,” Law says agreeably, and not at all sexily. “You’ll have to fill out the paperwork first, though.”
“The…paperwork,” Sabo echoes dimly.

Law is grimacing. He gives Sabo a sidelong look. “Take a wild guess.”
Sabo hisses out a breath through his teeth. “Alright, Mr. Pessimism, I’m trying to be hopeful here. Maybe there’s been a new push for exposing corruption in the World Government – ha, oh man, I can’t even say that jokingly.”

What the hell is he supposed to even see? How the hell is he supposed to navigate like that? And would he even know it if he was looking right at it?
It’s all just an empty storm—some nameless emotion that twists his chest and burns in his belly like fire or fear, or maybe both; and the inexplicable urge to smile.
Even his name takes ages to return. (His voice takes even longer.)
