Summary
A lead on In-ho's location takes Gi-hun down a path of even more blood, violence, and power games. But he will stop at nothing to save the man he both hates and loves the most in the world.
Direct continuation to Final indulgence. I strongly recommend reading it first to better understand the nature of Gi-hun and In-ho's relationship in this universe.

Summary
In-ho has one chance to convince Gi-hun to join him as his right-hand-man, or else the VIPs want him dead. He agrees.
Because In-ho is right. The rebellion didn't work. It was never going to work. The players are simply too far removed from the people really in charge. Even killing the Front Man would only result in a replacement Front Man. But as the Front Man's protégé, Gi-hun can make a difference. He can do what he can for the players from above, rather than below. He can investigate the gold-masked men. He can scheme.
There's light in the darkness. In-ho helps Gi-hun get Ga-yeong back. He teaches him how to fight, how to survive in this deadly world. Slowly, slowly, they begin to trust each other. (The kissing happens long before the trust.)
Gi-hun uses his new power, undreamt of in his old life, to do what he never did before: think only of others. And the luxury helps, the high-end alcohol helps, but of course he's still tortured by guilt. But at least they're tortured together, and take sanctuary in each other. Gi-hun gets to fight in favor of the players; In-ho gets to not be alone. They both got what they wanted.

Summary
Gihun hoists the Frontman up, shoving him like a ragdoll up against the wall until he’s sure there can be no resistance.
There’s a weak undernote of a scent here, something distinctly not his. So used to the sterility of the Frontman it takes moments for him to register it, perhaps a failing suppressor? It takes him less time to recognise it, evidently softer than his own but still bitter and burnt, like coffee and charred cinnamon sugar. He knows this scent…
“...Youngil?” He breathes.
“Youngil is dead.” Comes the response, voice despondent and unfeeling.

Summary
During Gi-hun's first watch after the second game, something happens between Gi-hun and Young-il (Hwang In-ho) that leaves Gi-hun conflicted when he finds himself wanting more. After the failed rebellion, Gi-hun is forced to stay in In-ho's quarters to watch the remainder of the games. When their relationship becomes more complicated, both men fight against themselves and their trauma as they begin to sink into the deep pit of their growing obsession.
Neither were expecting to become wrapped up in each other as much as they did, and neither of them were expecting to do anything it takes to stay together.
