Summary
Emily Dickinson and Sue Gilbert grew up spending their summers together in Martha's Vineyard-a small island right off the coast of Cape Cod. Both the Dickinson's and the Gilbert's had summer cottages on the island and they had been summer neighbors since they were young. It had been a few years since Emily had spent her summer there due to college and other life happenings taking up her time previously. They hadn't really kept in touch and this would be the first summer in a while that they would both be there at the same time. As the summer goes on, there's a burning tension between the girls and both of them are feeling it.

“What do you mean ‘girlfriend’?” asks Sol in the present, trying to process what just transpired in front of her, her jaw clenched, her heart erratic.
In front of her, Ji-wan looks strangely jittery, her bright eyes flickering every second, her mouth pressed tightly together.
“Just for the weekend, that’s it!” she blurts out, coming forward to wrap her fingers around Sol’s wrist.
“What do you mean girlfriend?” asks Sol, her voice tapering towards the end.
“Yoon Sol,” whines Ji-wan, widening her eyes with a protruding lower lip, incorrectly interpreting Sol’s hesitance. “It’s not even real! You just have to pretend, just for the weekend, that’s it!”
OR: Sol decides a fake relationship with her best friend is what will help her process her feelings.OR: Sol and Ji-wan fake date each other. There is only one way that this can go.

Summary
“Hey.” Sol called out. Jiwan paused, slowly turning to her again. It was Sol’s turn to ask questions. “Are you here to stay for real, Seo Jiwan?”
“I am.. I’m not going anywhere.” Despite the dark, Sol can clearly see the sincerity of Jiwan. Her pleading eyes made it feel like a promise.
“Okay.”
“Would that mean anything for you?” Jiwan’s voice was full of hope, but Sol wanted to be honest with Jiwan.
She was not yet sure if she wanted her former best friend totally back in her life, now that she’s found the stability in the old and new people surrounding her. It was a hard journey getting there, and she was not easily going to risk the hard earned safe place she had built over the past two years.
She was not sure if the relief of knowing Jiwan was around was enough to justify the anxiety of having her close, of the kind of memories that go back to Sol every time Jiwan looks at her directly in the eyes.
And so looking at the stranger in front of her, the truth was the only thing Sol managed to say.
“I’m not yet sure.”
OR: 2 years after the most frightening confession of her life, Sol finds a ghost of her past back in town.

“Ok, that does make sense.” She concluded. “But it doesn’t explain why you wanted to talk to me today. Was it just that you wanted to tell me to be more careful?”
“Smart girl. It wasn’t.” Bitna chuckled. “I actually would like to help you.”
“Help me with what?” Yoon Sol frowned.
"With getting the girl, obviously.” The red-black-haired girl stated.
