    The morning light was getting stronger as the clouds burnt away, the morning rays reflecting on the riders. Their horses were groomed to perfection, their black coats shining over the healthy flex of muscle. The boy on the black and white horse had braided his horse’s mane, each little braid finished off with a tiny bow. He said something that he accentuated with a wild wave of his hand, causing his riding companion to burst into laughter. And Victor’s knees nearly buckled with how sweet a sound it was. 

    The rider of the black horse was beautiful, kissed by sunshine as he threw his head back and laughed. When he raised his coffee to his lips and took a sip, Victor honest to god felt a flash of jealousy towards a disposable paper cup.

He brought his hands up to touch Viktor's chest, running them across the fine silk shirt that concealed rippling muscle.

    "Viktor..." he murmured, his and Viktor's breaths mingling and combining in the small space between their lips.

    Yuuri was the one to fully close the distance between their mouths. Just quietly, he'd always be proud of that.

    Yuri was finally confident enough. Fingers interlaced with Viktor’s. Their mouths hot and tongues tangled, dancing more feverishly than Yuri ever could on ice. Inexperienced, Yuri fumbles, shaking and jittery. Viktor’s touch is soothing and reassuring. Being confident enough didn’t ensure complete confidence, and the lack of experience further emphasized Yuri’s naivety.

    At a certain age, if an alpha or omega had yet to be mated they were required to enter a mating hunt at least once. Many things dictated how long someone could wait before they were bullied into spending a week on the hunting grounds. Careers, overall health, and schooling were some of the factors that one could call on to keep them out of the arena.
    At twenty three and recently graduated, Yuuri could no longer keep the arena off his back. He would have to participate and hope for the best. But he had a plan! Find a good enough hiding spot that no alpha would ever find, and ride out the induced heat week on his own. At the end of the week he would walk out, a free omega. And maybe one day, he'd find the alpha meant for him.
    On his own terms.
    Viktor was a romantic at heart, but after twenty seven years of trying to find a mate on his own, he finally took the time from his career as a world class skater to participate in the mating hunt. Finding an omega to care for during their heat would soothe his broken soul, and if he was very lucky the omega may agree to be his mate.
    Though all he really wanted was to find true love.
