Summary
When Percy de Rolo moves to Emon to start a new job away from home, he yearns for a community in a bright new city when he meets Vox Machina, a rowdy group of friends during a neighborhood meet-up. Vex slowly draws her bow as she hears the sound of quick and uneven footfalls far off on dry forest floor.
She sees the creature she’s hunting at a distance. It’s dark enough that the world is melting into darkvision monochrome, but she can see that the monster wears a coat, that it’s in a terrible hurry, and that it’s limping.
Vampires generally aren’t known for holding onto wounds. It was injured in the last minute or so—Vex isn’t the only one after the bounty.
Vex nocks a holy arrow. She should take it out quick, one shot, so she doesn’t need to rush in with a silver dagger and make things messy. She’s so much better with a bow.
