He was being hauled up and half-carried, life dribbling out of him in spurts, aware of nothing but bone shattering pain and Sam’s voice; Sammy talking and talking. Sam. Aw, God. Sam. He gasped and held his breath so Sam wouldn’t see him wince. There was something he needed to say, something he needed to tell his brother.
“I’m proud of us.”He put his hand on Sam’s shoulder, on Sam’s face. The one good thing he’d done with his life, and he tried to muster up a smile, to tell Sam it was okay. He was done. It was okay to let go.

Along the way they run into a girl, a kid, some monsters, and the required impending apocalypse. One of the definitions of 'sciamachy' is to fight with shadows... and Q is about to go to the place where shadows are housed and used by the government.
In today's world, the Sybil System is everyone's conscience: by looking at data (everything from Facebook posts to security cameras) this AI can determine what people are criminals before they can do wrong. Some criminals, though, are dangerous enough to outrun her for a time - those criminals, when caught, are put to use instead of put down. After all, what better way to hunt down monsters than with the better monsters?
Enter Q. He's not dangerous - at least to the common eye - and he's perfect for the job of Quartermaster for all of these 'better monsters.' But he's got an agenda, and he's not the only one...
Or: the dark!AU crossover fic that nobody asked for, in which the Sybil System has labeled everyone 'good' and 'bad,' and you don't know if you can trust anyone. And it might be the so-called 'good' ones that you have to watch the most...

Summary
Five years ago, Thor's Chitauri army decimated the Earth. Now what's left of humanity lives in bases under the Earth's surface, safe from the toxic atmosphere. Tony likes to think that humanity's adapted pretty well. After all, they have movie nights and dances; they're doing better than could be expected. But when he learns that the little world of safety and stability they've carved out is about to be slowly but surely destroyed, the New York Underground is left with only two options--fight or flight. Tony knows which one he wants. If only Steve weren't on the exact opposite side. Meanwhile, Natasha wants whatever option will save Clint, Pepper wants whatever option will save the base, Maria Hill wants whatever option will save everybody, and nobody's exactly sure who Loki's trying to save, but everyone's hoping it's more than just himself.
