The sounds of footsteps approaching echoed off the walls and he shifted, curling in on himself to appear smaller. He wished he could disappear. He wanted it all to end. He didn't care anymore. He's tired of waiting.

    “The will of men is like the flame of a candle. If you don't keep it safe, the wind will extinguish it,” said the Doctor as he gazed at him. He grinned in glee at the dull look in the teenager's eyes. No longer defiant. No longer hopeful. Just a broken empty shell remained. Wonderful. He won. He put out the flame with his fingers.
