Summary
Fox turns in his seat. There’s a lot he would say, if saying it wouldn’t burst a painstakingly built and only newly effective dam on a raging torrent of anger, hurt, heartbreak, and longing. Maybe it's written on his face. He hopes Collin’s reading hatehatehate in bold print. Fox really, really tries to close his eyes and do a calming counting exercise in his head–-Derringer is mad for calming counting exercises–-but the longer he looks the closer he gets to just leaning over and vomiting on Collin’s disgusting, shiny black shoes.
“Why,” he seethes. “Do you give an infinitesimal shit what I do? I’m not a journalist, I’m a dishwasher. Go tell Creed they have fuckall to worry about.”
There’s a twist in Collin’s mouth that might be shame.-
Wherein Fox Maharassa treasures his friends, confronts his past, investigates a conspiracy, and believes in himself, all while juggling an ex who refuses to submit to a goddamn damn redemption arc. Set during and after Other People's Business by Stan Stanley, with some notable canon divergences and a lot of enthusiastic piecing together of cryptic livejournal comments.

Summary
“Seems you’ve got something to say to me,” he announced from the top of his stairs. He fancied he cut a nice figure, cool as ice. “In my day it was ‘thank you,’ but--times’re changing.”
A Tribe retelling through Jack's eyes.

Summary
Sokka's expression is caught somewhere between determined and pissed off when he says, “I know you think this is your responsibility. But you’re not going to be alone in this. This is why we’re building you a council.”
“I know,” Zuko says.
“And the only way you’re going to die having done nothing but sit in meetings is if you let yourself do that. You’re not a bad leader if you take a break now and then.”
Zuko scowls. “What, so people can then say at least my father wasn’t lazy?”
Sokka tilts his head. “Don’t you think there’s a difference between laziness and, I don’t know, choosing life and happiness in spite of a terrible dad who tried to take both from you?”
----------
Zuko is sixteen years old when he’s handed a crown, a throne, and a hundred-year ancestral legacy of colonial imperialism. He’s not scared of the work; he’s scared of being consumed by the responsibilities and burdens he’s claimed. What Zuko doesn’t quite realize, yet, is that he’s not alone in this.
