Going back to Picton after the island wasn't something Simon was looking forwards, but it was something that would happen no matter what.At least everything would go back to the way it was before, and he could be invisible again. He didn't take into account the nightmares that memories would bring and, more precisely, the reactions his body would have to them.

Yes , he had Jack but that was their first year now they have grown from close in private to distant. Until a new kid joined- Ralph who has becomes closer to what Simon has ever wanted.
