Summary
In the summer of 1959, Paul’s life is perfect. He has his music, his new band, and his first true love; his song-writing partner, his best friend. John.
But then autumn comes, and Paul’s dad convinces him that his dreams are nothing but a foolish fantasy, that he needs to grow up, get a real job, a real life.
Five years later, John is an international music sensation, his band taking the world by storm. And Paul? Paul is exactly where John left him, working a dead-end job, no family, no prospects, no life.
And then one day, John comes back to town…

Summary
"If I could leave, I would have already left."
(Title/lyric from Paul Revere by Noah Kahan... go listen to his music and think about Hawkeye to have a terrible time btw)He sat up in the window seat and stared out at the moon where it reflected on the sea. The air stung a little, salty as it was. But it didn’t sting like the wind in Korea had, when it kicked up dust as he and Margaret pressed their lips together for the last time. He tapped the ash off the end of the cigarette on the windowsill. If he was lucky, it’d catch and burn the whole place down.

Summary
McIntyre stares her down for a long moment, both of them caught in the standoff, before he scoffs out a chuckle and shakes his head. While he loosens his tie, he drawls. "All right, let's lay it all out on the table, huh? You don't have to stay, that's right. And I don't need you to stay. There's a dozen gals at the bar next door who'll get in my bed for nothin' more than a wink. I ain't desperate." But as an ugly tightness locks Margaret's ribs shut in a vice, he turns to face her head on and speaks over her irritation. "Neither one of us needs you to be here. But that doesn't mean I want you to go either. Yeah, if you walk out that door, I'll have another girl flat on her back in ten minutes." He pauses. When his eyelashes flutter—a single twitch—it's the first moment that he's looked anything but unflappable. "But you're the one I'm gonna be thinkin' about when I'm inside her."

Summary
“Right.” Hawkeye nods. A lot of the time when Margaret says something, he ends up nodding along with overly exaggerated importance because she’s being so Regular Army about it, but now he’s not so sure. She seems to make a lot of sense tonight.
That streak continues in a big way when she says, “It’s a shame about Trapper. He was very handsome, you know. Nice to look at.”
Or: Hawkeye and Margaret get drunk, talk about wives and how terrible but not terrible but terrible they are, and make out with Trapper, but with each other and without Trapper.
