Lighter swallows roughly and shifts his stance, switching the foot he’s standing on as he pops his neck.
“If you keep starin’ at him like that, you’re gonna burn a hole in his head,” Piper drawls beside him, making him jump and nearly topple over.
“Christ, Piper,” he mutters, readjusting how he’s standing and pretending he can’t feel eyes on him. “I’m gonna put a bell on ya.”
She huffs out a laugh that sounds more like a sigh, placing a hand on her hip as she looks up at him, raising an eyebrow. “Ya just gonna stand here and stare at ‘im, or are ya gonna go talk to ‘im?” Lighter swallows, opening his mouth to tell her no when she speaks again. “He’s been askin’ bout ya.”
Lighter sniffs, averting his gaze and shoving his hands into his front pockets. “Did he?”

In the original text of ‘Atop This Peak’, the character Caelus; after leaving his Sect for 3 years to travel, had died after fighting off a low class demonic beast.
…And one can only imagine how much it astonished Caelus; the person who shared the same name, to the point that he’d almost spat out a mouthful of blood.
A low class demonic beast? Caelus? The character who had reached Early-Stage Core Formation?
This was so obviously the result of lazy writing…
With such grief in his heart for the character, Caelus couldn’t bother to read the rest of the book and set it down carelessly on his desk.
Forget it, if the only thing he could do now is lament, than he’d rather go to bed and not think of the novel anymore.
He’d only wish that he could have rewritten the text, and given his character a proper ending instead whatever this author gave.
…Was his last famous thoughts before he had been been transported into the world of the novel.

Paimon glanced at her new traveling partner as he walked along the beach shore, her floating alongside and chattering aimlessly. She didn't know why he was traveling, where he was going, nor what type of person he was besides the strong, real silent sort. He hadn't spoken once and never acknowledged her words beyond a nod and a head tilt, so she was starting to wonder if he was actually listening to her or not. But that was okay if he wasn't. Most people didn't listen to Paimon anyway. At least he hadn't told her to go away yet, and because of that, she would follow him until he did.

Aether is mute, and that changes… just enough to alter the course of history, actually. But some things never change. Like Paimon. (Unfortunately.)
