Summary
The first time Richie thinks about killing someone is a few months after the incident in the sewers, when he's woken by a nightmare.
There’s a sensation, viscous and dark, that rolls down his spine, and makes him drive his teeth together as his fingers twist in the sheets on his bed. He doesn’t yet recognize it for possessiveness, but he’s close enough to understanding it when he thinks of taking Sonia out of the picture, sweeping Eddie away in some grand, macabre gesture. Like a fairytale.
Like a knight in shining armour.
Richie’s going to make everything right in the world again, and he’s going to do it just for Eddie, who he loves so much it hurts.

Richie glanced between his fidgeting fingers and Eddie’s eyes. "I just wanna get the hell out of here and I’d miss you if you didn’t come with me so maybe you could come, like we can go together?”

Having known each other for over a decade, their lives were already so intertwined and Eddie could not imagine the rest of his life continuing without Richie Tozier scribbling dicks on his school books and screaming Metallica lyrics at the top of his lungs and calling him in the middle of the night to tell him he’d broken his thirty-second pair of glasses. Yeah, he was planning on leaving Derry for college anyway, but if he got to do that with Richie, his best friend and perhaps favourite person in the whole world? Fuck yes, he was so in.

It occurred to him slowly but clicked into place in an instant. An understanding and a realisation that had begun festering in his brain for so long that it had begun to make it’s home there; built with bricks made of an internalised self-loathing that sometimes felt like it was so heavy Richie could barely inhale. It was like a weird, fucked up puzzle from the universe that was being given to Richie in fragments. Piece by piece. And as the picture became clearer, the details less murky and more defined, Richie began to feel as if his life was over before it had truly begun. That everything he had hoped for was instantly torn from his grasp.
Richie knew a lot. He knew that without Buddy Holly, there would be no Beatles. He knew that modern ventriloquism started in nightclubs and originated as a religious practice. He knew that rabbits could not puke, the oldest ‘your mom’ joke was found on a 3,500-year-old Babylonian tablet, and that shellac was made from insect poop. And he knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that he was most certainly going to hell.

Just another AU college Reddie fic! No one dies, Eddie and Stanley are best friends! They're all around 20 years old. Mostly focused on Eddie's POV. Set in 1996 with lots of 80's and 90's music references.
IMPORTANT: this version contains some explicit depictions of sexual activities as well as explicit verbal exchanges. If smut is not your cup of tea you can find a cleaner version to this story amongst my other works, it's literally the same except the spicy moments are significantly watered down or straight up skipped. The characters and plot remain the same.
