Summary
Jack set off for Signal the day before, just in case. Broke down when he stopped for gas. Didn’t even turn it off, and that damn engine idled itself to death. He and a coupla truckers got it going again, gave him ample opportunity to break down ‘bout an hour outside a Signal. Took a snooze on the shoulder, figured he could hitch if he needed to. Route 26 was busy enough. But salvation came once again in the form of a family asking for directions, and he putted the rest of the way to Aguirre’s just to break down in the damn parking lot.
Novelization of Brokeback mountain from Jack's POV. Strong focus on Jack falling for Ennis, how Jack cares for Ennis, and how he tries to help Ennis open up and truly be himself. Represented metaphorically because Jack's got a colorful way of thinking.
This is a companion fic to to be warm.

There’s a ball of ice in his belly. Always been there, but some days it’s bigger‘n harder‘n colder than others. The first time it grew so big that it choked him was back when he was nine, and his daddy was laughing at a man in a ditch, holding Ennis by the neck so he couldn’t look away.
A kind-of novelization of Brokeback Mountain from Ennis' point of view. Strong focus on Ennis's anxiety and his feelings of lust and love, represented metaphorically because that boy is too repressed for anything else.

He was holding me down, there was nowhere I could go—I suppose I very well could’ve tried, but I didn’t. I don’t know why I didn’t. An unknown force willed me to let whatever was going on continue, feeling my chest rise and fall as I caught my breath. I just looked up at every inch of his face over and over trying to memorise it because I had an awful feeling that one day I would have to let him go and days would exist where the world would not feel like it was inhabited only by the two of us.

I turned my head, feeling vulnerable under his eyes, which made me feel an awful pain in my chest because he was so beautiful here, under the starry sky, the snow protecting his hair, his mouth ajar, so kissable—I lowered my eyes, slowly enough to see his watch adorning his wrist, in silver, the second hand slowly advancing, as if the world had stopped, and that there was only me, only him. There has always been only him.

Seeing him here, in New York, surrounded by the deep browns and golds of Hobart and Blackwell, is so alien to me I have to repress the urge to pinch myself like a child would after a dream. It looks incorrect, him standing here. Like someone has taken a pair of scissors to my memories of him, cut him out of his rightful place on the abandoned playground, and pasted him sloppily into a corner of my life where he doesn’t belong. Has it only been a few weeks? It feels like ages longer, like it’s been a decade, like we’re different people trying to see what exactly we liked about each other so much way back when.
But then he says it again- “Potter.”- and that feeling vanishes as quickly as it arrived.
“You came,” I say dumbly.
He gives a cheery smirk that I don’t believe. “Promised I would.”

Min Yoongi has an...odd view on life and death. In his opinion, if you don't give someone their flowers while they're alive, what's the point in waiting until they're dead or near death? It sounds like unnecessary heartache to both parties involved: For the near death- it's creating a bond with someone new you'll never get to fully enjoy. For the other- it's becoming attached to someone you know for a fact will depart from the Earth at any moment.
Well after a near death experience lands him in a hospital, Yoongi meets someone who shows him that it's never too late to make someone's rest a peaceful one.
