Summary
On the way back from a call, Buck is abducted and brutally assaulted. The aftermath is messy: Buck insists he’s fine (he's not), Eddie is wracked with guilt (predictably), and Christopher knows way too much (as usual). As the 118 rallies around them, everyone has to grapple with the fallout of the violence and what it means for Buck, for Buck and Eddie, and for themselves.

Summary
Finally, Eddie looks at him. Then at the cans. Then at Buck again. He looks nervous, his throat bobbing around a big swallow, like he’s about to give a speech.
There’s no reason for him to give a speech. They’re in a Costco.
“I think I love you.”
Oh. Well that’s not what Buck was expecting.
He stands there holding six — no, wait, he grabbed more than six, he’s holding at least eight cans of Kirkland Signature crushed tomato at this point. There’s so much tomato.
Buck blinks. Weird timing, he thinks, but he’ll take it. That’s a nice thing to say, that’s — yeah. That’s nice. They’re best friends. That’s — sure. Okay. Weird, but sure.
Buck smiles, moving to pat Eddie on the shoulder before he remembers all the sauce. “Thanks, man. Love you, too.”
“No,” Eddie says.
Buck blinks. Eddie blinks back.
“No, I mean—” Eddie is looking at the shelf, at the floor, at a point on Buck’s chin. “I mean, I think I’m in love with you.”
Buck’s face is hot. His arms are full of cans.
“I don’t think we need this much sauce,” he whispers.

Chimney sat down across from them and leaned forward, elbows on knees. "Theo. Buddy. What's Eddie do when Buck says something dumb?"
"Chim,” Eddie groaned.
Theo thought about it. Theo took it seriously; he tipped his head back and squinted, doing real cognitive labor, and then he turned to the room at large, dropped his chin, let his shoulders fall about an inch, and said, with a long-suffering exhale that came all the way up from his tiny diaphragm:
"Buck."
The loft went insane.
It was perfect. That was the horrifying part. It wasn't a kid saying a name. It had the whole shape of it: the little drop at the end, the fondness sanded down into exhaustion so nobody would notice the fondness. Eddie had been saying that man's name that exact way since 2019 and had never once heard it from the outside, and now it was coming out of a preschooler in a costume, in front of everyone he worked with.
