The betta fish wander about, gliding through the water aimlessly and lost in the space of water and greenery.
“They’re in love, I think.” Satoru responds, brushing away Suguru’s comment. “They can’t be in the same tank. Territorial creatures, they call it.” Suguru tilts his head, a response that is neither an agreement nor a debate. “But they’ve got it easier. Easier than anyone else in the world.” Satoru hesitates. “The white one’s a female and the black one is a male." He quietens to something that is barely a whisper.
"They could be together without sin.”

Satoru Gojo is raised to believe queer people go to Hell. Then of course, Suguru Geto goes and fucks it all up. As one does when they're hopelessly in love with a childhood (ex) best friend.

Satoru’s lips curl into a smug smile as he rolls his tongue over the lollipop hanging lazily from his mouth. Unbothered, his eyes sparkle with mischief. "Or what, Professor?"

Gojo Satoru knew nothing about love when he started playing his game. He knew nothing of its gifts and its sorrows and its consequences. There were only two things that he was sure about: for one, he was obsessed with space, and for another, he wanted Geto Suguru to notice him.
The rest, all of the things that Satoru wasn't prepared for, came long after he began to play.

“There’s nothing left for me here,” he whispers. His voice is barely audible above the crowd swarming around them. “You go off and do great things, Satoru. My path leads elsewhere.”
“We can figure this out—“
“There is no we,” Suguru cuts him off, a certain kind of finality etched into his tone. He shoves his hands into his pockets, turns on his heels.
And Satoru watches him go, watches him disappear into the crowd of people moving around them.
Watches him walk out of his life.
Or,
Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto are best friends, and the epitome of the life of the party, always the main characters. However, when their secrets start to catch up with them, they fall apart. They slip into the background, almost like they were never there to begin with.
