“I’d never ask you for that,” Daigo protested. He hesitated for a second, then added tentatively, “Aniki.”
Kiryu screwed his lips into a grimace and stiffened in discomfort at the title. Next to him, Yayoi took another drag in a vain effort to hide her amused smile. Daigo recalled, belatedly, the difficulty with which he’d persuaded the man to call him something other than young master.
“You haven’t really sworn up yet, so I don’t think…” Kiryu started.
“Okay, well, I’ll still take whatever jobs you give me, Kiryu-san,” Daigo said.

“Nah, don’t bother.” Majima huffs out smoke and stares up at the moldy ceiling. He sounds bored of the joke already. “I got allergies anyway.”
It’s funny to think of Majima, who bulled through being stabbed and shot and drowned by sheer force of personality, being brought low by hay fever. Kiryu’s chest twinges again. He should microwave a bag of rice to put on that when he gets home.

His breath comes hard, shoulders heaving. The cold air bites at the sweat cooling on his back. His suit jacket is torn at the shoulder, the fabric soaked through with something dark and spreading. He doesn’t feel the pain yet. That always comes later.
Majima stands on the other side of the net.
He hasn’t lifted a finger. Not yet.
His tanto is still in hand, blade sheathed, tilted casually over one shoulder. His grin, though—it’s sharp. Almost genuine.
“Well, damn,” he says, stepping forward, boots echoing over the concrete. “You still got it, huh, Kiryu-chan?”
Kiryu doesn’t answer.
Majima whistles low, stepping over one of his fallen boys. Nudges him with the toe of his boot, not too gently. “Man down. Guess we’re runnin’ outta time.”
He pushes open the gate to the center cage. Holds it open.
“C’mon in.”

Summary
Four years after the events of X-Men: First Class, Charles Xavier finds his X-Men on the losing side of their continuing battle with Erik’s Brotherhood. Azazel and Mystique have a child in secret and, unwilling to raise Kurt in the midst of Erik's war, they give him up to Charles to raise at his school for the gifted. He agrees to do so, on the condition that they visit their son regularly. This leads to tenuous contact between the Brotherhood and the X-Men outside of the battlefield for the first time in years, and both Xavier and Magneto realize that the lines dividing them are not as clear-cut as they previously thought.
