Gordon stares at the words through tear blurred eyes. He’s been crying for a while now, ever since he understood what the content of this letter really was about. It’s these last words though, that delivers the killing blow. The tears running down his face drips onto the paper, staining it and blurring the words even further.
While he knew things had been rocky between him and Tommy lately, he never expected things to be this bad. He knows exactly what caused it though. Who has caused this letter to arrive at his doorstep.

Gordon's jealousy and inability to let go of his anger towards Benrey costs him his relationship with the one good thing in his life, Tommy. In his attempt to get back together with him though, Gordon gains an unlikely ally and things starts to take a turn.

Even with over a year of therapy Gordon can’t stop the panic bubbling up in his chest at Benrey’s words.

“Yeah I heard you the first time, I’m trying to process it by yelling.”A year after the events in Becoming Human Gordon suggest a vacation. Xen might not have been his top choice, not even his top 100, but it will be a trip to remember.

The group pauses its trek down the empty corridor, all eyes turning to look at Benrey.
“How could he forget about me?” Tears start rolling down his cheeks, voice getting increasingly upset. “Why doesn’t he FUCKING REMEMBER ME?”
“W-who...who doesn’t remember you Benrey?” Darnold cautiously walks closer only to stop in his tracks when Benrey starts screaming.
“HE FORGOT EVERYTHING. HE DIDN’T EVEN REMEMBER MY NAME. I GOT THIS STUPID FUCKING JOB JUST TO SEE IF HE’D REMEMBER BUT HE DOESNT.”

“What I mean is…” Benrey had to paus, putting down the beer bottle he just had taken a swig from and squinted at the other two “...is that it’s such a dumb plot point.”
“What is?” As usual Gordon had a bit of trouble following Benreys train of thought when they were both drunk.
“The fuckin’ love triangle!” Benrey waved his arms, almost smacking Barney in the face.
“I’m with Benny on this one.” Barney absentmindedly caught Benreys arm, linking it with his own to keep it from doing more harm. “S’ stupid and hetronoma- hetro...straight.”
“It’s not even that dude...it’s mononormative.” Benrey slumped deeper in the sofa, pressing into Gordons side.
“I’m too drunk for long words, explain please.” Gordon carefully freed his arm from where it had been trapped between his and Benreys bodies, choosing to drape it over the shorter man's shoulders instead.
“It’s like...you don’t have to choose right. Why choose? S’ stupid. Could just love the both of them.”

The Black Mesa job was only supposed to be a quick cash grab for Benrey. Get in, move some science stuff around for a couple of days and get paid enough to be able to afford the new PS5. There might also have been another small insignificant reason. Someone had told him that Gordon Freeman had gotten a security job at Black Mesa.
