Summary

Summary
Alice Cooper has been missing for 2 months. Her car was found wrecked in Sweetwater River, halfway between Greendale and Riverdale. No other traces of her have been uncovered in the extensive search. The leads have run stale and the Greendale Police are no closer to an answer than they were the day she went missing.
Betty Cooper is tired of the big empty house filled with unanswered questions. After stumbling upon her mother’s hidden USB drive on the Jingle Jangle case, Betty has been digging through her mom’s research, looking for a lead. The last notes saved referenced Riverdale’s Southside Serpents. Betty decides to go looking for her own answers.

“Isn’t this going to be kind of awkward?” he asks in the loudest whisper I’ve ever heard.
“Oh my gosh, he can hear you, Bret!” I hiss at him, because he is seriously like twenty feet away from us.
“Yeah, I know, and he’s going to be hearing a lot, so I don’t see the point in trying to be discreet about it,” he says, sounding annoyed.
“Well, what do you want me to do? I’m kind of obligated to have him here. Let’s just try to make the best of it, okay?” I plead with him, even though I know it’s a lost cause. To be honest, I’m pretty sure he is a lost cause.
“Surely he can protect you from outside? Why does he need to be lurking around us all the time?” he says, as if he’s a stalker rather than a member of the Secret Service.
OR: Betty is given a Secret Service detail after her mom is elected Vice President.

Summary
Betty Cooper was hopelessly in love with her best friend Jughead Jones.
Up until the first night of summer, she is hopeful that he might love her too. It was in the way that he tugs her ponytail and smiles at her, the way that he held onto her just a little longer when they hugged, it was in the way he told her that he loved her laugh, and it was in the way that he was always, always looking out for her.
So when the two of them have a moment and Jughead gives her the cold shoulder all Betty can think about is where she went wrong. Before she can figure it out though, the unthinkable happens and she disappears for the entire summer. When she gets back, her friends aren’t speaking and Jughead can barely look at her.
Can she fix things between her and Jughead and mend their friendship? Or is all hope lost forever?

Summary
Betty and Jughead are separately dragged to another one of Cheryl's house parties by their respective best friends, who immediately abandon them. Betty is the typical popular cheerleader who's tired of being something she's not. Jughead is Riverdale High's resident angsty loner who can't wait for high school to be over. He's also been pining for years from a distance, and she's always wondered why they weren't friends anymore. So course they would somehow find themselves randomly locked in a bathroom together.
Or, a Riverdale/Bughead fic with some of my favorite 90s teen movie tropes.
