Before he could give an order, before he could draw breath enough to command silence, a gunshot split the air.
The crack rang through him like a physical blow. For the smallest fraction of a second, he thought it was his own body that had been pierced, that the shock and the ache in his chest were the bite of a bullet. His hand even flew to his sternum as if expecting to feel blood.
And then he saw her.
Elphaba.
Her frame jerked, twisted, the force of the shot stealing her balance. The world seemed to slow to a cruel crawl — her arms flung out, her hair catching the sunlight in a wild tangle, her face half-turned as if to look for him, though he knew she could not have known he was there.
And then she fell.

in the chaos of battle, Fiyero hears the shot before he sees her fall — Elphaba, struck down in the sunlight, her body folding as if the world itself had betrayed her. In this story, there's no "almost" about it.
After so many schools, Fiyero has the routine down to an art: arrive on campus, get the lay of the land, organise a party at the most swankified place in town and begin corrupting his fellow students on his 'dancing through life' philosophy.
Having his driver run over one of his classmates immediately upon arrival is not a part of that plan.
Neither is falling in love with her.

As his heart raced, his mind did as well, a knee-jerk reaction to his cock’s subtle swelling. How it might feel to be touched again, gentle and slow like Annie did maybe, or something new, hard, rough. Hands grabbing, hair twisting, black, inky tendrils wrapping— wait, no. Not that last one.
Venom began to sprint faster, making up for their lost ground. But Eddie’s brain didn’t stop.
Rough hands, or smooth. Holding him down. A palm at his throat, a thumb in his mouth, fingers laced into his hair. Be good. So pretty.
The worst part was, Eddie couldn’t tell if the images rushing through his head were only his. Venom and he were one, after all. Was the symbiote feeling this too? Were their fantasies seeping into each other, with no clear boundaries, just a tangible togetherness?
