“Nothing. I thought that squirrel seemed a little nutty.” Donnie paused, eyebrows raised, but Raph did not give him the satisfaction of a laugh. “Uh, nevermind. The fridge works fine. It’s just the lightbulb that’s out.”
“Oh, great,” Raph said. “Give it a twist and let’s get the hell out of here.”
“Mikey would’ve laughed.”
“I’m not Mikey.”
“No,” Donnie sighed. “You’re not.”
Raph wished he remembered enough about his youngest brother to understand all the nuanced layers of meaning in Donnie’s statement. But since he didn’t, Raph let it pass.

“...drivin’ me...ya’ freeloader...!”
Pigsy freezes at an instant, the box of leeks rattling as it falls from his hands onto the floor. He doesn’t care for the handful of vegetables that topple out- not when dread sinks its claws into his stomach and rakes.
There’s only one person who MK has ever heard the word “freeloader” from, and only one person Pigsy has ever guided the nickname towards.
“MK!” he barks. “Just what the hell do ya’ think you’re doing calling Tang-”
For the second time in the span of a minute, Pigsy finds himself frozen and tongue-tied in his own goddamn restaurant. He can’t even muster up what was once a stern tone, his throat tightening with emotion as he finishes the sentence lamely. “...that?”
Pigsy never thought that taking care of a six-year-old MK would be so challenging. The kid throws tantrums over everything, putting up a fight that could bring demon kings to their knees.
At least he has Tang to step in whenever Pigsy needs a break, even if said help leads into some surprisingly wholesome mischief.

MK forces his eyes away from Monkey King's crossed arms. Because yeah, it is that bad. And no mildly disappointed frown from his idol is going to change such a fact.
He's wet. Cold. And should've been sparring with Monkey King an hour ago.
But no, meditation was just sooooooo important.
He pointedly watches the thump of his mentor's tail against the grass. "You can hate it all you want, but we aren't moving on until I get five minutes of pure meditation."
MK would like to call himself an optimistic person. After all, there's hardly a day he'd describe to be terrible all-around.
...but today? Yeah, no. Meditation is new kind of misery he's not ready to face.

Upon awakening he decides to stay in his stone statue form and observe the modern world through his gold vision. He's pretty content with being praised all day by strangers until a particular child begins to show up so regularly he cannot call him a stranger anymore. Maybe a friend.
OR the self indulgant fic inspired by a Hanfu created to keep the statue of an immortal god warm that I found in the V&A and semi-spearheaded by Kyri drawing some art based on it -
