The flashlight offered little, but it was still enough to catch sight of a moss-covered road sign. What sounded like ravens croaked as he walked closer. The sensation of being watched followed him as he pulled off vines and mushrooms. On it, four words glowed eerily in the light.

When Tilda sells their house in San Jose and drags twelve-year-old Aaron across the country in a secondhand RV, Florida is supposed to mean beaches. Instead, he gets a landlocked trailer park outside Tallahassee, a starving summer, and a hidden garden behind an “abandoned” mobile home that is not abandoned at all.
This is a slow-burning coming-of-age story about hunger, bad parents, gardens, and the very weird, very stubborn friendship that forms between Aaron and Neil long before Andrew ever walks into their lives.
