    Summary

    Alternate and more mature-rated take on a scene in the Dark Winged Queen Arc from the (2023 - Present) Titans (Tom Taylor’s run) comics. This takes place during Titans: Volume 2 or more specifically issue #15 of that run. It starts off pretty similar to how that scene goes in the comics, but devolves into more of my headcanon as it plays out. I really loved that scene, but because it’s not in a strictly bbrae-focused comic, there was so much more left unsaid in their conversation due to space/time. Therefore, this is how I wish the rest of that scene played out. If you are not familiar with the storyline, this one-shot begins with a quick synopsis in the notes to catch you up on what’s going on in the continuity. If you’re familiar with the comic, you can just pick up after the synopsis.

     

    *Additional note: I had to disable comments on this story because some people don't understand that other continuities/timelines and versions of these characters exist. Sometimes BBRae is canon and sometimes it isn't. Neither is wrong. When characters exist for decades, they go through many changes and interpretations and one canon is no more correct than another. This story takes place in a comic run where they are canon.*

    OMG.
    I'm cackling so hard. I am distinctly reminded of dnd games in which the bard of the party does their absolute dardest to seduce the final boss instead of fighting.

    “I will kill you.”

    “Sure, but can we make out first?”

    This is a treat. And it's gotta be oh-so painful and obnoxious for the rest of the gang to listen to >:D

    I love how Gar keeps reminding her that his confidence is based--not in bravado--but in actual fact. He DOES know what she likes, she made the CHOICE to kiss him. It was NOT a pity kiss. For all her protests, she still talking to him because that's how she can keep looking at him, with all his flexing and flirting and yeah.

    You’ve seen me at my worst, Rae. You’ve seen my Beast. Hell—you’ve witnessed me as a hormonal teenage boy, which is arguably worse—and yet, you still love me.

    Excellent nod to their history. Love that for them.

    This was wonderful coda to my fave recent Titans trade. <3

    Arthur wasn't Garth's father, he also wasn't not his father either. It was complicated, but Garth had already committed to getting the man something for the surface world holiday dubbed 'Father's Day'. Unfortunately, gift giving had not been in the curriculum on his training to become a 'real boy' (Roy's words, not his).

    Or,

    5 times someone helped Garth find a gift for Father's Day, and 1 time Garth helped someone do the same.

    Tim Drake died when Robin cut his line. There was no flag pole or ledge to catch himself on. No backup grapple at the ready. Lucky for him, Gotham has never been one to give up her soldiers. Now an undead that is permanently bound to Gotham as her protector, Tim learns the importance of self-worth. And that maybe his "family" isn't what's best for him.

    Tim heard Jason joking about being a zombie and said, "hold my beer." Featuring semi-sentient Gotham.
