The promise of a future sent a thrill through Carlos, the assurance that there would be a next time, and a time after that, and a time after that. That they would continue finding each other.
And a great rivalry, they had.

“I'd renounce every trophy if it meant that I could wake up next to you at least once again,” he finally says, and it's like his shoulders are lighter than they've been in years.
“You don't mean it.”
“It's the hour of truth, Carlos. I can't lie,” Jannik replies. It's so honest, his stomach hurts.(three times jannik and carlos play the hour of truth and the one time jannik is being real about it)

Summary
There’s a body. Interesting one. Washed up ashore, no identification; bruises, gashes, missing a shoe from the sea. Need to find out 1) who he is, and 2) to whom he needs to be sent to for funerary arrangements.
Come and do the legwork. You’ve yet to visit England still and you have three months of mandated leave and an empty flat and an even more drab uni, so don’t pretend as if you have better to do. —JJannik had folded the letter, put it on his kitchen table, made coffee, come back, read it again, and booked his tickets.

Summary
This is what the gossip peddlers and whiny power clingers hate most of all. Each one twisting themselves up with disdain and jealousy at the devotion displayed by their Emperor towards his royal concubine.
A foreign spoil of conquest whose pale skin, bright hair and delicate constitution seem destined to stand in glaring contrast to the sturdy, sun-kissed people of his capital kingdom of Murcia.
But then…Carlos is devoted.
After losing much of his family to the lawlessness of surrounding kingdoms, the God Emperor began a bloody crusade to restore order and consolidate an empire.
When the time finally comes for Carlos to lay down the sword, he discovers his greatest prize waiting for him at the edge of the world.

Summary
“I wanted to know how happy I could be without you. Without feeling as if every match is a deal I make with the devil. I wanted to lose to you and hate you instead of going home to you. I should have realized that was not possible—at the end of the day, it all comes back to you.”
In the City of Light, a summer between the two: a fracturing, and a homecoming.
