“I went—” Peter starts, whispering, “I went back. To the boat.” His voice wavers on, “You weren’t there.”
Something in Frank’s expression shatters. “Peter.”
“It’s okay. I mean, ‘s fucked up, but it’s okay.” He still doesn’t put any weight on the trigger. His finger’s barely on it. “You’re here now.”
Without the furrow in his brow, Frank’s eyes are large and dark, nearly doe-like in their glassiness. It’s disconcerting, seeing a man so dangerous with a face so open and vulnerable.
“Kid?”
He closes his eyes, breathing out. He can do it.
[The aftermath of BND because isolation does not disappear with a few choice words; it will linger on and on until he chooses to save himself, and even after.]
