Summary
When a journalist is granted a rare, behind the scenes story about Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, two of the most well known names in the hockey world. She expects a story about hockey, rivalries, pressure and the grind of the season. What she finds instead is something far quieter and far more extraortinary.
Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov spent years being defined by the world: rivals, prodigies, captains, controversies. But inside their home, on morning runs with their dog, in the soft glow of late‑night flights and the quiet corners of locker rooms, they are simply two men who found each other long before they knew how to name it.
Across practices, away games, and the emotional return to Montreal, the team that once turned its back on Shane, she witnesses a love story built not on grand gestures, but on small, steady moments; a hand brushed against a wrist, a shared smile across the ice, a wedding ring twisted between nervous fingers. She sees the family they’ve built, the teammates who protect them, the history that shaped them, and the future they’re choosing together.

Summary
Soulmarks are supposed to be a blessing, or so people say. Shane disagrees.
They appear as the first words your soulmate will ever speak to you, written on your skin in your soulmate's handwriting.
But Shane's is a simple and underwhelming "ok." So mundane he has long since stopped noticing the words when they're spoken to him."I'm not sure you're supposed to smoke here" Shane said as he approached the Russian player.

Summary
Ilya flopped onto the blanket next to Shane, dripping wet.
“So,” he said. “You like sexy role play, yes?”
Shane, who had just taken that moment to take a sip of ginger ale, promptly choked on it, spilling fizzy liquid all over his stomach and crotch.
“Jesus Christ,” he rasped, as Ilya laughed at him, the fucker. “Who starts a conversation like that?”
Shane and Ilya's intimacy at the cottage leads to some revelations that Shane had been repressing. Ilya is excited to give him exactly what he wants in every way.

“Look, I know you’ve got this...thing...for Rozanov.”
Shane’s stomach dropped. “What do you mean?”
J.J. smiled sadly at him. “Why do you think I keep trying to set you up? Having a crush on a straight man is no good, buddy."----

Summary
I’ve always felt curious about the sex that happens between Ilya and Shane in Tampa, after Shane’s confession and Ilya’s tears and them just holding each other. We only see them afterwards, the bed rumpled, Ilya mostly naked, and them calling each other by their first names as they say goodbye. I also realized we’d yet to see them “slow-fucking” as Ilya says at the Cottage…and from there this fic was born.
