Alberu’s pretty sure this amount of worry over his crush’s wellbeing isn’t a good foundation for a healthy, long-lasting relationship. Somehow, he thinks that's what he wants anyways, just after the both of them make it past this mess with gods and so much other bullshit.

There’s a pause before Raon receives the next message. It’s as though the sender hesitated.
‘Tell him he should just rest next time. Don’t wait for me.’
(Alberu promises to call Cale late at night, breaks his promise twice, and drops by instead, as a good definitely-not-lover should.)

“But what if you get sick too?” Hong asks, sniffling as Cale strokes his head.
“Even if I get sick from this, it doesn’t matter.”
On, Hong, and Raon tilt their heads in question, far too cute for vicious children. Cale sighs.
“I’m your guardian. Even when you’re sick, I’ll take care of you.”
The children look at him with wide eyes. Cale sighs once more.
"Your job right now is to get better," Cale says softly, "Go back to sleep."
(The children get sick. Cale takes care of them.)
