Summary
A butterfly-light touch, at the pads of your fingers. You feel the deep furrows in your brow ease as you turn your gaze from the distance to Astarion, next to you. His face is impassive, as it so often is; seemingly carved from marble by a sculptor with a taste for cruelly beautiful curled lips. But his hand is pulling at yours, fingertips tangling yours out from where they were gouging furrows into your palm.
A series of vignettes accompanying gameplay from Tav's POV. Original dialogue and canon-compliant. Good-aligned Tav x Astarion romance, written in that sweet sweet Reader present–tense 2nd person POV. Tav's class, gender and other identifying details are kept mostly somewhat ambiguous for self-insertion. When things get hot & heavy eventually, Tav has a female body type.

Astarion knelt down so their faces were level. He didn’t want to startle Cat. But neither would she forgive him if he let her sleep on and waited until she woke naturally. Not after two damnable months apart. He ran his fingers over her hand that lay on the covers, speaking at last. “Cat, dearest?”
Golden eyes squinted open, and then snapped wide.
With a wordless sound Cat lunged for him, grabbing at him as she fought her way out of sleep. She managed to drag him half into the bed before she asked the belated question, smushed right in his ear.
“You’re real?”

Several months after the final battle, Astarion returns home after a long time away attending to his duties toward his fellow spawn in the Underdark. Meanwhile, Cat (Tav) is trying to reclaim her former role as a premier violinist, taking on an offered solo part for the Baldur's Gate Symphony's upcoming season. Domestic/romantic fluff, plenty of smut, some angst (for depth of flavor!), and a 'soft Astarion' while keeping him in-character (as best I can!). This is an epilogue to my longfic for Cat and Astarion, but it can be read as a standalone. I had a lot of fun writing this as my last fic for the year-- happy reading!
