    The man sniffed and tensed. All the relaxation that he seemed to exude evaporated in an instant, and even hidden behind sunglasses, Wise could tell he had locked in on him.
    As the man started walking to him, heavy boots thudding loudly against the packed earth and sending clouds of dust trailing behind him, Wise finally caught the man’s scent － sharp lemon with the strong undertone of smoke, strong and heavy and hungry and reaching － and finally realized that this was an Alpha.
