Shouta stares at him. All Might’s a myth, a legend. A symbol. He was never supposed to be more than a shadow to chase after, a footstep too big to fill. And yet here Shouta is, drinking beers with the worshipped god, awestruck by how unfathomably human he is.
”You.”

Shouta Aizawa doesn't mind the dark. In fact, it's really something of a comfort zone.
Most of the time.
But in the black morning hours after All Might's battle at Kamino Ward, Shouta finds himself surrounded by a darkness that's oppressive at best, and distressing at worst. He knows this is the end of an era. And his heart breaks for the wounded blond titan lying in the hospital bed not fifteen feet away.
Watching him struggle for air after breathing the particulates of collapsed buildings, and the black smoke of burning gas and oil amidst all the destruction, Shouta can't help wondering why he'd even felt compelled to come here. Why he'd climbed all those stories outside the hospital building, and why he now sat in the open window, like a covert sentry working the night shift. Desperate to confirm that All Might was okay, and drowning in a sea of conflicting emotions that he just can't seem to shake...

“Quirkless. Midoriya was quirkless until he was fifteen?” Shouta stared at Yagi, uncomprehending. Late bloomers were kids who got their quirks when they were five, not fifteen. The latest recorded quirk manifestation had been six and that wasn’t taking into account the child had been born three full months premature.
If Shouta hadn’t been so busy looking at his own hands in despair he might have seen the way the corners of Yagi’s smile tightened, the way he seemed to draw into himself. “I’m not sure where you would have heard that, young Aizawa.” His steady voice betrayed nothing.
