Damian pulls out his phone and dials Richard’s number- his chauffeur has been unfortunately painstakingly instructed to answer no calls whatsoever from Damian, and Alfred has begun to pretend that phones do not exist during school hours. Unsurprisingly, as it is eight in the morning, it goes to voicemail. Damian waits impatiently for the beep. “Richard,” he says, in tones of the deeply suffering, “this place is a hostile environment. I must be collected post-haste, as after this latest indignity I am dropping out. Come at once, or I may die here.”
The dynamic duo attend a parent-teacher conference. No one has a good day.

“No. We need more information. Stay quiet. Stay hidden. Don’t engage. Signal to me if you need help or if you find anything or anyone. Wherever this is, it isn’t home. We don’t need to start something that we’re incapable of finishing.”

(Maybe they meet the other Damian and Bruce, and Dick tries to fix their relationship, but at the end, Damian and Bruce decide it’s just too late? (I am a big fan of angst.))

Summary
“Your butchery of the English language astounds me.” Damian says, sliding into the seat.
“Second language.” Dick replies. “Can’t be blamed for my mistakes.”
Damian sniffs pretentiously as Dick starts up the car and gets them on the road, the reprimand already on his tongue. “Don’t be foolish, Richard, you have mastered a number of languages and are perfectly capable of speaking them as they were intended to be spoken, as I do. Making excuses as such is undignified.”
Dick hums, amused. “I think there was actually a compliment in there. You’re getting soft, baby bat.”
Damian’s scandalized face is exactly as Dick pictured it. “I am not!”
…Bruce died. Bruce came back to life. The months between those moments don’t stop meaning something even if it would be easier if they did.
It’s up to Dick to reassemble his life and find a way to be a brother to the boy he considers his kid. It shouldn’t be a problem (except that it is) and where the hell is his sweater??

The knife pushes thin along Dick’s carotid artery, cupping the indent between neck and jawline—forcing him to angle his chin. The metal is warm, pulled with execution speed from under Damian’s pillow.
“Okay,” Dick says quietly, tracking the intricacies of his own heartbeat—counting the space between breaths. “Guess I did need a shave.”
(With faltering steps, Dick and Damian become Batman and Robin.)
