Summary
Mapic, after years of training and dreaming, has finally been able to become a knight. A paragon of chivalry, of integrity, of strength. He’s hungry for battle and adventure, maybe even a little glory.
But it’s all thrown to the wayside when he’s assigned to work in the most prestigious (well to him, most boring and stifling) position in the kingdom.
Prince Zam’s personal guard.
His rival- no, worse: his sworn enemy.
They once were friends. But that was a long distant time ago as children. And the last memory he has of Zam? Is not a savoury one.

Summary
It's PB&J's first, and perhaps only, Christmas. Still Minute and Jumper are both stuck reminiscing about the last Christmas they spent with their previous team, hung on the losses they've both suffered in the decay of Lifesteal that takes and takes and takes, souring this season of giving.
But there is one gift this snowy December 25th—the presence of the other. Today they are alive and not banned, not yet at least, even though they know they soon might be. The holiday spirit wafts in the air, and they are able to let down their walls, huddle by a fireplace and tell their alike and melancholy stories; together they talk about what's gone, maybe relish in what's not gone quite yet, what's still here.
Perhaps, that is enough.
Perhaps tonight, all they can afford to dream of on this cold (in two ways) server is 'enough'.

once again, i am a very sporadic unstable universe enjoyer but this invested me so much into zam's character on uu like i didn't even KNOW pangi was there and now im like. oh my god. empire duo.
i've seen empire duo on lifesteal so i loved this different dynamic but with the same sort of character-ish? i loved all the little details and idiosyncrasies baked into this fic and how they interact with one another!!
always love a more domestic/grounded setting too :)) a nice, short, but very high quality fic - a sweet treat read you could say ^_^
all about zam trying to move on from his perfectionism and the loss of his status with a man who could care less about his so-called 'mistakes' and his lack of title (pangi), just zam as a person i love it!!!!! -

literally look at my comment it summarises everything i LOVE about this fic
short and sweet and tbh that’s all it needs to be, it did so well i loved how detail in the descriptions was balanced with some really amazing dialogue
the pov switch was a prime example of how this author knows to characterise bc even tho they were describing basically the same events, you can palpably feel the difference in how they experience the world and see themselves, others, yk!!
if you love killerbunnies found family and royal au’s this is gonna be your favourite i guarantee it
there’s another fic in this series and i highly rec you read that as well
