Bookmarker's Notes
Alec plans to seduce Normal to secure his job perks. Instead, they both end up getting what they really want. I loved this subtle, adult story, and especially the way it stubbornly refused to cave to cliche.
Potential story spoilers below:
This story is an unusual gen fic that is set in a sexually charged atmosphere. Normal is clearly attracted to Alec, but he is also clear about not wanting to have sex with him. Alec employs various moves to seduce Normal, but also is clear about his own motives, which don't include wanting to have sex with him. Instead, something genuine and beautiful forms between them. Neither is pining or harboring unrequited lust. The UST is between the slash reader, with our trained story expectations, and the story itself. It also exists in the eye of the beholder/society, represented in the story by Max, who refuses to believe that this could be about anything other than sex: there is no third possibility. And yet, the story persists in showing, rather beautifully, how that third possibility might work - and making the reader wish for more of it. It's a rare gem.

Summary
“What happened?” Raylan asks.
“Whaddya mean?” Boyd slurs, reaching up to swat aimlessly at Raylan’s face. Raylan studies him, his dilated pupils, the lax expression on his face, his purposeless hands. He feels all over Boyd’s scalp for bumps, bruises or blood, but doesn’t find anything. He thinks back to the two glasses on the bar, the bloodied bottle on the floor.
“Did he put something in your drink?” Raylan asks, his voice so tight it shakes.
Boyd’s eyes focus on Raylan’s face and he grins, a big dopey smile on his bloodstained face. “Raylan Givens,” he says with satisfaction. “You here to lock me up?”
*
In which Raylan's instincts take the wheel, and Boyd is a damsel in distress.

Fantastic voices, understated hurt/comfort, sexy without being explicit, strong writing, great capture of these two characters. Cinematic storytelling, with effective rendering of these taciturn characters' gestures and body language.

This is it. This is what I wanted in a "what if" episode tag for 4.01 Lazarus Rising. Amazing, deep characterization of Dean, Sam, and Booby, with fabulous glimpses into their povs. So believable.

Loved it! Funny and with heart.
Din Djarin drops in on the Imperial Senate. Chaos - and then healing - ensues. Crossing The Mandalorian (TV) with the wider Star Wars universe, this funny, high-momentum fic features time travel, outside POVs, and a huge cast of distinctively voiced and realized characters. It even has a plot that we care about, tying together many disparate canon points of pain and fixing them all.

Summary
It is winter, and Emma is looking forward to the ball at Mrs Coles', and Hartfield's own winter party. The year has brought many changes to Hartfield, and Emma is determined that nothing more shall threaten her peaceful life and her fledgling idea that she, too, might like to marry. She only wishes to see her friend Harriet Smith suitably settled, and everything will be just as she wants.
But then Mr Knightley makes a hint, and upsets all her plans for herself, and Harriet.
As snow falls, Emma begins to realise that change can be good, and fledgling ideas can leave the nest very quickly indeed.
Note: this story changes many details of the original, but the characters remain, as far as I can manage, the same.
Second Note: this was 2000 words long and neatly wrapped up when I decided to watch Connor Swindells in SAS Rogue Heroes and Jack O'Connell in Lady Chatterley's Lover. And suddenly I had quite a different idea and my story became ... a little longer than planned. Hope you like it!

Bookmarker's Notes
This is just so, so good. 18K words of a canon au that should be preposterous, but that the author makes fitting and perfect. The language, the characterization, the voices of the main and supporting characters - everything is just right. I particularly loved: the delicate dissection of the characters' emotions (so reminiscent of Austen canon), the creation of a vibrant, magnetic character in Robert Martin (who was only sparingly described in the book), the palpable connection Emma and Robert feel to the land and the physical mechanics of its working, and finally Emma's and Robert's perception of the contours of their own era, of living in an enlightened, modernizing age. All of these elements create so much depth to the story, in addition to the pure enjoyment of the plot and unusual pairings. Blessings on the author for this absolute delight.

So good, I couldn't put it down. A canon AU: what if Wentworth came back to seek Anne's hand after he had gotten his captaincy but before he'd made his fortune? How would the train of events change? Fantastic language and style; the opening felt like a seamless offshoot of the book. First Anne gets her say, and then Lady Russell. What a treat!

A fun snippet from very early MacGyver. It gets into Mac's head and gives us a believable glimpse of his insecurities and doubts on his first spy mission. Nicely done mix of action scene and interiority, with a canon signature upbeat ending.

Bookmarker's Notes
A lovely window into Anne's future through letters written home to Lady Russell from aboard Captain Wentworth's ship, the HMS Constant. Captures the language of the book and Anne's particular voice with a light, precise touch. Great imagining of the direction Anne's character development might take her in this new context.
