Summary
“Wha-what– why are we—” Ned looked around. It looked just like his chambers in Winterfell, but for the red drapes in the windows… if this was some vile trick played by the Lannisters to gods knows what end… “you are naked.”
“Yes,” she said, “you are too, my lord. And it would do you well and good for your wolfskin to warm me more than the floor.” Ned stared some more, and her expression turned annoyed, “What is it, Ned? Has your wits left you as well as your limbs?”
“What manner of trickery is this?” he demanded, rising to his height with the furs bunched to his groin. “How are we in Winterfell? What are you doing in my chambers?” The sight of her casually splayed on his bed, the one him and Cat slept and made love on and shared with their children, enrages him further. “Have you no shame for the blood your pride and arrogance has cost? Must you mock me further, to lay in the very furs that my wife and I slept in?”
“My lord,” she begins, slowly and evenly, “I am your lady wife.”

Summary
House Malarys was old in name, but they joined the Targaryens in being relatively obscure of the twoscore holding Houses of the Freehold. By the Doom, they had three dragons, a miniscule number compared to the tens that the most powerful families keep in flock. The head of the House, Aelon Malarys, was only in the fifth year of his majority (being twenty-and-three) during the Doom. House Malarys was founded late, and only became a dragonriding family when one of its members became a trusted aide to a more powerful figure in Valyrian politics and was given a dragon egg for their services.
For how Malarys escaped the doom, none could say, but they had an outpost called ‘The Last Haven’, a sentinel island near the western shores of Westeros, near the kingdom that was to be called the Reach. They say it was the furthest point to be reached by a Valyrian to the West, and thereafter was an endless sea that surrounded the known world drifted until they reached the ephemeral barrier that separated the immortal realm and the mortal realm, or so the story goes.

Summary
Aman can sense water hidden in the desert—a precious gift for his clan. When the priestess Ishartu seeks sanctuary during a sandstorm, his gift arouses like never before. She beckons him like water itself.
But Ishartu conceals far too much. She knows secrets of the Red Crag that even the Elders themselves ignore. Her water is too pure to belong to the desert. Thus, the Elders order Aman to watch over her.But watching her becomes obsession—or the answer to his prayers.
Ishartu desires Aman as much as he desires her, but she's bound by sacred duties and pursued by foes she won't speak of. When disaster forces them into the depths of the Crag, Ishartu takes Aman to where the essence of the Melted Goddess resides—and where the sacred and the carnal become one.
In the sacred darkness, Aman and Ishartu surrender. One night that will change everything.
At dawn, Ishartu must leave. Aman must either let her vanish into the desert like a mirage, or pursue her—and choose sides in a war between men and gods. -

Summary
Getting transported to the past? Tricky. Getting transported to the past with old gods who are fascinated by you? Trickier. Getting transported to the middle of the Trojan War and you and your girlfriend are on different sides? Now that's just mean.
Or, Annabeth and Percy travel back to Ancient Greece during the Trojan War, but end up on opposite sides due to conniving parents and old god grudges. The gods are much more possessive than either child remember them being.

Summary
Quen felt peculiar up on the dais, flanked by stags and lions and wolves.
The Usurper had once been a formidable man, with blazing eyes and a massive war hammer. Now, he was just a red-faced fat man, a pathetic drunk who ate as gracefully as a half-starved hog.
His Queen seemed to be a perpetually unhappy woman. Cersei Lannister was as beautiful as the singers said, though the woman had all the warmth of a dead fish.
She might have done well in the north, Quen thought, almost pitying.
(Or: The gods in their blind malice give Theon the feeble body of a woman.)
