    “Are you feeling alright, Kacchan?” Izuku asked softly.

    “I’m fine, nerd,” Katsuki responded, just as quietly. “Quit asking.”

    “Even here?”

    They stopped walking, and Katsuki watched with heavy, tired eyes as Izuku slowly, carefully, brought his hand up to rest on his chest. Over his heart.

    “It… feels kind of fast,” Izuku muttered, voice strained with worry and exhaustion. “Is that normal?”

    “…yeah,” Katsuki said after a brief pause.

    It’s normal when you’re around.

    For some reason, Katsuki felt like the fading of One For All correlated with the fading of Izuku from the picture of his life. It wasn’t like he’d never see him again, but it wouldn’t be the same.

    There had to be more than surviving just to watch One For All die and Izuku retire from heroics. That couldn't be the end of their story.

    All Katsuki knew for sure was that the more Izuku faded from his life, the more uncertain and dark everything became.
