“I’m sorry, I didn’t hear you come in,” Wylan moved from behind the piano, closer to the counter. “Is there something I can help you with?” He tried to put on his best customer service voice, but it was hard with the man smiling at him like that. Like he knew how he was affecting Wylan just by standing there, listening to his music.
“Did you write that?”

“Are you…” Wylan started, pausing as the man turned around to listen to him, a smirk pulling at his mouth. “Are you in a band, or something?”“Wouldn’t you like to know?” He winked, and was gone, the bell above the door ringing as the door swung back shut.

Wylan owns a music store, ends up auditioning to join the Crows, and miraculously makes it into the band.

Summary
Neil had never been vain. He didn't care if his hair was brown or blonde or black. It made no difference if his eyes were a shade that clashed with his complexion. He preferred his clothes baggy. Safe. He didn't like his scars, but he wasn't ashamed of them. It was more that he didn't like getting questions about them, or the assumptions they caused people to have. Or the fact that they were memorable. And memorable was the opposite of safe.
