Summary
"Susie wasn't exactly sure what she had expected.
The glowing red heart floating gently in amongst the rustic iron bars of the bird cage was admittedly not what she had in mind."
Or: my interpretation of the conversation between Susie and Kris regarding the SOUL.

Summary
“It wasn’t a big deal or anything, if you’re worried about that. We were just kind of friend-kissing.”
“Susie, I don’t know what friend-kissing is supposed to be,” Noelle said.
“It’s like. You know,” Susie stumbled, “like if you need to figure out how to kiss or whatever and you got somebody to help you out—and that guy helps you get better at it, it’s like—you know!”
“I-I do?”
“Yeah,” she stressed, “you and Kris used to do it all the time!”
Or, Kris decides flirting lessons aren’t all that bad of an idea. Consequences? What consequences?

Summary
Kris stared at her. They couldn’t speak for a moment, eyes poring over Susie. A part of them couldn’t believe she was actually here, sitting in front of them with a wild gaze. She was soaked, droplets falling from her hair, the jacket over her shoulders turned dark from the water. Had she really braved the rain and wind in the dark of night just because ‘it didn’t feel right leaving’? Kris was silent and unmoving before they ducked their head, running a hand over their face. They peered up at her again, palm clutched over their mouth as their cheeks threatened to tighten with a smile, but Kris took a deep breath and composed themself. They let their hand fall into their lap.
“My… sweater?” They repeated, their words coming out in a low mumble. Their head turned a sliver to the side, and Susie followed the motion and looked in the corner. Through the dark, she could just barely make out the green sweater thrown over the birdcage.i.e., Susie and a soulless Kris reflect on the events of Chapter 4 and their relationship with each other.

Summary
“Go on.” Susie dropped her head such that Kris’ chin was in the crook of her neck. “Still think I’m the weird one?”
No thoughts crossed their brain. Just TV static. And they broke like silver church glass, relenting under Susie’s grasp effortlessly. Their back foot, not bearing weight, stabilized them, their hands balled into fists so tight they shook. They closed their eyes and breathed in deep, hard and fast enough that the violet strands of Susie’s hair lifted towards their nose. Sweat, dew, smoke, cheap shampoo. Harsh words, soft and guiding gestures, the cake in Ralsei’s castle and the pie in Kris’ home.
“Yeah?” Susie said breathlessly.
“Smells…” Kris’ voice was small, scared, hopeful, everything they felt all at once. “Smells like home.”
“Gay.”
“Mhm.”
Prophecy be damned. Ralsei’s tears be damned. Noelle be damned, Undyne be damned, if the whole world both light and dark be damned, then please, Kris begged an unhearing and uncaring universe silently, if I can choose just one thing on my own, please, please let it be her.

Summary
"'Kris was here' is written in wobbly letters. The words bleed, already dripping into obscurity as the fog clears. Susie snorts. “Isn’t it kinda stupid to mark your territory where it’ll fade away in a few minutes?”
Kris shrugs. “It’s fine, as long as someone saw it.”"
