“Oh, I just remembered,” Dustin reaches into his pocket and pulls out four rings. They glisten in the wet night air.
He’s been bringing them with him everywhere, a distinguishable weight in his pocket he never leaves the house without. He still has yet to try them on; doing so has always seemed immoral to him. They were never intended to be his, after all. But after months of deliberation, Dustin had decided that if he ever were to wear them, he should at least show them off to Eddie.
He slips them on: index, middle, and ring fingers, then the ring finger on the other hand, the way Eddie used to. They’re a little loose, but maybe he’ll grow into them.
He holds up his decorated hands parallel to the name etched in the headstone. “What do you think?”

Summary
The force of the knife sends Kris skidding onto their knees.
They’ve been hit before. Hell, they’ve been downed before, countless times within Dark Worlds, but they’ve never felt a pain as strange as the kind the Roaring Knight inflicts. Like a wound forming inside-out.
Wordlessly, Ralsei and Susie each take one of their hands and pull them to their feet. It’s the small, but instinctual gesture of care from the both of them that makes something warm and saccharine swell in Kris’ chest. The three of them look out for one another without even having to think about it first.

Izuku's angled sideways on an armchair, knees pulled up to his chest. Perhaps the strangest thing of all is the box of oranges next to him. He works diligently on the fruit in his hands, prying the citrus free of its skin.
Silence is shared between them for a moment, until. “The doctor said you can start eating again,” Izuku says, nonchalant, like it doesn’t fucking matter that Katsuki hasn’t heard his voice in weeks.
“Izuku,” he tries, and it sounds weak, because he’s never had to try with Izuku before. “Where have you been?”

Summary
The realization that Katsuki would do anything for Izuku is a mundane one, and perhaps, old news. It happens quarter-to-nine, fifteen minutes past when he would usually go to sleep.
When the rest of the class starts retreating to their dorm rooms, the exhaustion of today’s events finally catching up to them, he makes no move to leave Izuku’s side. They’re pressed together on the couch, touching at the knees. Katsuki can feel his warmth radiating through the blankets piled on top of him.
And in the end, it’s just anticlimactic. Fuck, he thinks. There's nothing I wouldn't do.

But maybe Steve’s tired of Robin always haranguing him, so he relents. Because he’s Batman with a squad of Robins—and Batgirl, he supplies when Robin shoots him a look—and because he spent so much time cleaning out Jimmy Fast Hands’ bathroom that he needs to make all that effort worth it.
“That’s just sunk cost fallacy, man,” Dustin says to him. “And if you’re worried about a gate opening in your pool, may I remind you that the sidewalk right outside of the station split in half, revealing the fiery and somewhat dead depths of the Upside Down, which was why Jimmy Fast Hands beat it—”
Steve just flaps a hand at him. It could mean anything from quit your yapping (except then he’d press his fingers together, and he didn’t) to come give me a hand, and it’s usually the latter, but Dustin doesn’t want to give in.

It floats down the tank with the man-made current, and then twitches back to life and circles back over with a few lazy kicks of its tail. When it turns to the side, Denji sees its smile again — stuck in that permanent upwards-ticking crescent. The sawfish bumps the glass with its nose again.
