This small closet tucked away down the hall from where Clorinde's Victory Banquet is being held is theirs to use, where there are no cameras to catch the way Navia sighs and tangles her fingers into Clorinde's hair to cruelly yank. No one to hear how Clorinde whimpers softly when her knees hit the floor, how Navia coos at her softly and presses her thumb into Clorinde's mouth to keep her quiet.

On screen, Clorinde makes eye contact with the camera tracking her before pressing two fingers to her wrist. It's a discreet enough motion, and it's boring to watch a Career tribute who isn't actively killing anyone, so it doesn't appear on the broadcasted feed. The Capitol cameras pan to a more interesting fight elsewhere. But Navia sees it.
My heart is yours, the gesture says. Saying it loud has never been easy for them, either because Clorinde needed absolute quiet to hunt, or because of the cameras perpetually trained on them after Navia was reaped. This is the one thing the Capitol has not figured out – why Navia and Clorinde touch their fingers to the pulse points at their wrists. She'd lied and said it was a District Two quirk.

The Ghost Drift made sure that they thought and acted as one, felt each other's pain, endured each other's happiness and agony in equal measure. The Kaiju ripped a hole in Rapperia's left side, and Navia had screamed soundlessly as its claws tried to find purchase in Clorinde's Drivesuit. But she had held on in the right hemisphere of the Jaeger, strategizing and consorting in their shared headspace faster than anything before punching back and toppling the beast back into the Primordial Sea. Then Navia learnt her father had died in his tri-pilot Jaeger – Clorinde thought she couldn't feel pain this intense until the body-destroying pain of Navia's grief ripped through her.
And then, just like their fallen comrades, Navia had left, and broken her.
Navia returns to the Fontaine Shatterdome after a lengthy absence.
